A University campus never stands still. It is
forever expanding, ever growing seeking to
serve the needs of the students.
In 1961, Wilmington College consisted of
three buildings; Hoggord Hall, the Alderman
Administration Building and the Hinton James
Student Services Building. Since then, Wil-
mington College has grown into a University
and has added sixteen more buildings to the
campus.
In 1969 the William Madison Randall
Library became an important addition to the
campus. The Sarah Grahamn Keenan Audito-
rium followed in 1970. The Cafeteria and
Galloway Hall, the first dormitory, were
added in 1971. The latest addition to the
campus was completed this year. The new
building houses the English, History, Math,
and Modern Language Departments. But, the
growth has not stopped there. Already, there
are tentative plans for a new student service
building.

and discipline, the football club finished
the season with an 8-4 record. Don
Corry, a newcomer to the club, served
OS coach. Corry singles out Melvin Too-
too, Chris Nichols, Bill Morris, Steva
Underwood, Ken Watson and Mark

BASKETBALL
With many strengths and weaknesse*
the Seahawk Basketball team com-
pleted successful year with a record
of 1 9-8. Coach Mel Gibson commented
on the aggressiveness and togetherness
of the team. Every player worked well
together. The bondage of the UNCW
team was much like thot of a family,
Gibson stated.
The Seahawks will be losing four out-
standing seniors, Ralph Peterson, Art
Paschal, Delaney Jones, and Dav*
Wolff; OS well as Chuck Verba ond
Leon McCrae. They leave behind them
a young but successful team.

MEN'S

be a successful one, winning 15 of 29
matches. Playing against some new and
tougher NCAA Division I competition, the
Seahawk netters completed the season
with a 15-14 record. With a young (no
seniors) and fairly inexperienced squad,
this year's team performed outstandingly
well against tough competition, playing 1 7
of the 29 matches on the rood. A job well
done!

WOMEN'S
BASKETBALL
The Lady Seahawks had a rather
disappointing season with a record
of 5-18. Jenny Allen, April Lewis,
Jennifer Heath, Kathy Lothspeich,
and Terri Kirby were the top return-
ing players. But even with the nine
newcomers, which make the team a
good size, they could not pull them-
selves through.

CHEERLEADERS
Under advisor Jane Batson, the UNC-W
cheerleaders had a successful year. The
cheerleaders have come a long way In
the past few years. Two years ago the
squad consisted of only 5 females. This
year cheerleaders consist of 4 newcom-
ers, and 4 veterans. Despite a some-
times less than optimistic outlook, the
squad never gave up. They always
gave encouragement to the players as
well as to the crowd.

Bowker, heod Cheerleader, Judy Stevens, Lisa
Everhart, Pot Monohon, Annette Nye, Lindo
Lueck, Terry Alward, and Marianne Collier.

The newly-formed Pom-Pom squad fills
the half-time activities with as much
beauty and coordination as does the

lot to look forward to in future years.

WOMEN'S
VOLLEYBALL p
This season, the women's volleyball
team had to combat both opposing
teams and inexperience. With a num-
ber of new freshman players, seniors
Aeida Vincent and Betsy Massari, the
team's best spiker, provided a steady-
ing influence upon the team. Under the
guidance of a new coach, Judy Peel, a
regimen of long hours and hard prac-
tice was instated to overcome their
inexperience. With the implementation
of a new offensive, the Seahawks
began to show steady improvement
throughout the season.

Babcock& Wilcox
For more than a century, the name Babcock & Wilcox
has been synonymous with quality. Quality in design,
materials, workmanship and installation produces a
product on which B&W customers can depend.
B&W quality is an important reason why electric
utilities and the pulp and paper, marine, petroleum,
chemical and other major industries come to B&W for
power generation equipment.
